lyrics

all of our pictures have fallen in dirt
but i've discovered their value, buried in the earth
and dusted off the markings and scars on their frame
and released those images back from where they came
i saw them in motion, i saw them in flight
dressed up as crusaders in the middle of the night
she was born with an emblem set there on her chest
emblazoned in fire, set solid in death
brought back to my memory those feelings of pain
when no one would help her and no one felt shame

arrow after arrow, one after the other they came
no one could know her horror or tax on her brain
felt like an angel sent there as their claim
fallen, forgotten, without a home or name

cracked and deliberate, tripped and forgiven it
falling like a stone
trapped out in wonder, can't run for cover
at least not when you're all alone
barren inside like her hope that had died
blisters made of chrome
sure she amazes if she just keeps up paces
but you can't bring her back when she's gone
